One night a month, The House restaurant in Howth clears out its tables and becomes a gallery for up-and-coming artists. John McColgan of Riverdance fame is no newcomer, but his photographs are something different. He's been snapping since the age of 14 when he bought his first camera in Woolworths for 10 and six – half his wage as a telegram boy in the GPO. Now, under the mentoring of photographer Peter Gordon, he's produced a series of sea and landscapes which have been specially printed and mounted behind acrylic panels. The work, which goes on show at the beginning of April, will be sold in aid of the RNLI – Howth Lifeboat Station. See thehouse-howth.ie
