The RUC and British army carried out a major security operation in the Whiterock Road area of west Belfast last night. Police said a number of items were taken away for examination.

Sinn Fein claimed several houses were raided in the operation and that important computer files were taken from the upper Springfield Resource Centre which serves the local community, including the disabled.
