Until Friday, at www.irishtimes.com/brucespringsteenreaders can exclusively hear a preview of Bruce Springsteen's eagerly awaited new album, Working on a Dream, his first album since 2007's Magic.
There are 13 tracks on the album, including the bonus track The Wrestler, from the movie of the same name, which last week won a Golden Globe award for Best Original Song – Motion Picture.
The new album, which is released on January 27th, is in the same vein as Magicbut is, if anything, more cohesive and impressive. The American star, via his website, Brucespringsteen.net, explained that the origins of Working on a Dreamlie in the Magicrecording sessions.
"During the last weeks of mixing Magic, we recorded a song called What Love Can Do. It was sort of a 'love in the time of Bush' meditation. It was a great track, but felt more like a first song of new record rather than something that would fit on Magic."
He then wrote a batch of songs that form the core of the new album.
