TONY STANGER did his chances of a British Lions call up no harm when he scored two tries for Scotland against Northern Transvaal last night.

Scotland succeeded where the Lions failed by beating the tough provincial side at Loftus Versveld, and the win means their tour of South Africa has finally taken oft.

Stanger, who is on standby for a call up to replace injured Lion wing Ieuan Evans, was the pick of the Scottish backs.

Stanger scored his first early in the second half and again the score came from scrum. The Scots worked a loop move between Cameron Murray and Hodge before Eriksson and Gilmour sent Stanger racing for the try line.
