There's no mistaking the immediacy of Nick Miller's work. Representational painting and drawing can be remote and analytical, but Miller's is the opposite: every image, be it of a person, flowers in a still life arrangement, or the unruly sprawl of the Irish rural landscape (Lough Key, right), teems with the urgent vitality of the encounter between artist and subject. This survey includes some of Miller's Truckscapes, landscapes painted from a mobile studio.
