What’s On Saturday: John C Reilly, Ewan Pearson and more

ROOTS
John Reilly and Friends
St Nicholas' Collegiate Church, Galway 8pm €30 roisindubh.net. Also Sun, Galway

That's John C Reilly, to you, buddy, the man you probably know best as an actor of no small skills (he's over for the Galway Film Fleadh, by the way and is also doing an acting masterclass today from 10am–1pm in the Radisson Hotel, Galway). When he's not hitting his mark, however, Reilly likes to strap on a guitar and bang out some boisterous roots, Americana and bluegrass tunes.

Ewan Pearson's production and remix work has crossed many lines. Be it with The Rapture, The Chemical Brothers, Goldfrapp, Tracey Thorn, Foals, Pet Shop Boys, or Franz Ferdinand, Pearson's work has always shown his tendency to buff and polish gems until they glow.

Dutchman Joran van Pol is fast becoming a name to be reckoned with. Over the past few years, the young master has found himself heading up the listings at clubs and events such as Awakenings, Crobar, Cocorico and other house and tech bastions. His studio work, meanwhile, has led to releases for Richie Hawtin's Minus and Dubfire's Sci+Tec labels.
