A SET of William IV rosewood dining chairs in good condition is the star lot in John Dunphy's sale at Sixmilebridge, Co Clare, next Tuesday. The eight chairs, which date from around 1835, could well exceed their top estimate of £4,000.

Elsewhere in the sale an Edwardian sevenpiece drawing room suite could make £1,500-£2,000; a pair of Victorian sofas may fetch £1,500-£2,000; and a Chippendale style sideboard with a brass gallery back has an estimate of £1,000-£1,500. A pair of salvaged panelled doors, 9 foot high, is estimated at £500-£700.
