A really great quality frozen pizza, streets ahead of the competition

The bases are hand stretched and stone baked, and the tomato sauce is made with San Marzano tomatoes

What is it?

Dunnes Stores Simply Better Italian Margherita Pizza (€5.99/440g).

What’s good about it?

This is a really great quality frozen pizza, streets ahead of the competition. The Simply Better team travelled to Naples to meet the Mandia family, who make them. The bases are hand stretched and stone baked and the tomato sauce is made with San Marzano tomatoes. There is also a pizza piccante in the range (with salami and ‘nduja), but this one is the best. It is made with four Italian cheeses, Fior di latte mozzarella, Asagio, Provolone and Grana Padano.

How do I use it?

It goes straight from the freezer into a very hot oven (220 degrees/200 fan). The recommended cooking time is 13 minutes (up from 10 minutes as on the original packaging, which has since been updated).

Where can I get it?

You will find these pizzas in the freezer cabinets at Dunnes Stores, but they do tend to sell out quickly, so stock up if you see them.

Anything else?

The recommended portion size is half of one of these pizzas. The quality of the dough, and the other ingredients, means that they are satisfying as a main course at this size.
