A man has died after getting into difficulty while swimming in a Co Cavan river.
Gardaí and emergency services received reports of a person in the Annalee river at Drumaraw, Ballyhaise, at 8.30pm on Tuesday.
The man, aged in his 20s, was taken from the water and pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí, in a statement, said his body has been removed to Cavan Mortuary where a postmortem will be arranged at Our Lady’s National Hospital Navan.

A file will also be prepared for the coroner, it added.
