Domaine Saint Gayan 2002 Rasteau Côtes du Rhône Villages, Domaine Pinson Chablis 2004

Domaine Saint Gayan 2002 Rasteau Côtes du Rhône Villages. ABV 14.5%. €13.99. James O'Connor selected this southern Rhône wine as a good example of the kind of value Greenacres offers. Despite the big whack of alcohol, this is a concentrated and well-balanced wine, earthy on the nose, but packed with dense fruit and delivering a decent finish. Searson's in Monkstown, Dublin, also carry the wines of this house.

Domaine Pinson Chablis 2004. ABV 12.5%. €16.99. Chablis is generally overly-expensive - the price of a name. This typical, basic Chablis has a toasty nose with nice weight, lemony flavours, good acidity and a reasonable finish. This wine is exclusive in Ireland to Greenacres. The company website: www.greenacres.ie includes a full listing of its wines.
