Eight drawings on display

Quentin Blake, who was Roald Dahl’s long-time illustrator, described Edward Ardizzone as “the greatest illustrator that ever lived”. Ardizzone illustrated the famous “Little Tim” children’s books, and was also an official war artist for the second World War.

Now eight of his distinctive black and white drawings are on display at Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet, Co Mayo. The illustrations were done for author THWhite's book, The Godstone and the Blackymor, which is based on his time living on the Erris peninsula in the 1950s. The drawings were bought by the community from the Ardizzone family, and will stay on permanent display. Rosita Boland
