It may not be quite as demanding as running with the bulls, but this summer's Irish Hospice Foundation cycle challenge – from San Sebastian to Barcelona – promises to be every bit as exhilarating. And, of course, demanding, in a pleasant way, as any 700km cycle, over five days, in sunny Spain would be.

The cycle, starting on July 19th, takes in several spectacular sights, including Pamplona and Huesca, as well as some testing climbs along the Pyrenees, before finishing in Barcelona on July 24th, while raising much-needed funds for the Nurses for Night Care Service.

The service, which was developed for people with illnesses other than cancer to fulfil their wish to die at home with dignity, will cost €450,000 to fund this year.

The deadline for registration is this Friday April 4th, after which entry cannot be guaranteed.
