D1/from €385,000: Dublin-based Ely Property is currently selling a block of 18 apartments which have been pre-let as student accommodation at The Steelworks apartment scheme, right, in Foley Street, Dublin 1.

The company is offering investors a return of 4 per cent on the two and three-bedroom apartments which qualify for tax breaks under the Section 50 student accommodation scheme. This yield is based on a letting period of nine to 10 months but according to the company, the return should also be high during the summer months because of demand from foreign students.

Selling prices are €385,000 for two-bed apartments with 63 to 68 sq m (678-732 sq ft) and €565,000 for three-bed units with between 95 and 97 sq m (1,022-1,044 sq ft).
