NOBODY wants to see queues returning to the property landscape but there was no avoiding it last weekend at Carrickmines Green just off the M50 in Carrickmines where apartments were being sold on the instructions of receivers.
Nearly 50 apartments were offered for sale in a block that had been mothballed for nearly two years, while the developer went out of business.
The prices – €135,00 for a one-bed attracted a crowd – with over 2,000 people visiting the site over the weekend. The first tranche of apartments were sold quickly.
Selling agents HT Meagher O’Reilly were able to pluck another unsold batch of apartments out of the development, and in total 82 deposits were taken in the end.
Meanwhile, DNG had a similar feeding frenzy at Cedar Grove on Firhouse Road, Templeogue, where it was selling, also on the instructions of receivers, 18 units that had been fully finished and mothballed. Fifteen of these were sold over the weekend, priced from €275,000, mostly to buyers who had been waiting in the wings until the prices had fallen sufficiently for them to pounce.
