Clare Boylan with Gerry Brouder

Clare Boylan has managed the most original look

Clare Boylan has managed the most original look. The three-bedroom bungalow she worked on with designer Gerry Brouder faces Bray Head and has clear views of the cross at its top as well as the distant sea.

The hallway is floored in oak and, through a door at its end, there's the immediate impact of the vibrant colours and shapes of a livingroom painted red with a black-and-white marble floor.

Wall units are in pale wood, a mirror has a highly decorative wooden frame and a Modigliani print hangs centrally over the stone surround fireplace.

Off this, the kitchen/breakfastroom has cream ceramic tiles and a white table, chairs and tableware. The curtains are cream with a beige stripe.

She chose shades of pale green and panelled wood for the family bathroom, while a bedroom/study has an old-style desk and golden tones everywhere. The main en suite bedroom has aquacoloured walls and a great deal of white with splashes of dark green from velvet throws.

The fourth bedroom, which also has an en suite shower, is in pale lemon with floral curtains, a cream-coloured desk and another Modigliani print on the wall. The en suite has yellow tiles.
