We are currently hooked on Stay Here, a new Netflix series that shows holiday-let landlords how to ramp up returns on their property by redecorating and rebranding. Interior designer Genevieve Gorder and marketing expert Peter Lorimer travel across the US, transforming grim abodes into chi chi rentals, to the complete amazement of owners who had despaired of ever making a decent return on their investment.

Closer to home, Airbnb holds regular seminars for owners to keep them informed about trends and to encourage them to learn from “super hosts” – owners who get consistently good reviews and, consequently, lots of bookings.

Meanwhile, former Irish Times travel writer Joan Scales is holding a seminar this Saturday in Dublin to share tips and advice on all aspects of making money from you home using Airbnb and other letting agencies.

The seminar will cover everything from upgrading and maintaining a property to managing online bookings and reviews and will also address subjects such as insurance and tax implications.
