Co Dublin: €1.75m Winterslow is a detached house on Marino Avenue East, a private and quiet cul-de-sac in Killiney, Co Dublin off Military Road. It was built on half an acre in the late 1800s in what was then parkland, with views over Dublin Bay to Bray Head.

For sale through Lisney with a guide price of €1.75 million, the house has three/four bedrooms, three reception rooms, kitchen/breakfastroom and, as ever, fine views. It will be auctioned on May 5th.

Winterslow has an Orpen-style exterior and inside, many original features: it is a bright house with wide, original windows which have a leaded glass feature as well as original doors, fireplaces and, in some rooms, plasterwork.

The ground floor layout is mirrored on the first floor, with similar arches at either end of both the hallway and landing. The staircase too is a feature, winding past a large, deep-silled window and on to a gallery-like landing. It has a floor area of 232 sq m (2,500 sq ft).

There is a sense of Winterslow's period in the rectangular-shaped diningroom. Overlooking the gardens, it has an original cast-iron fireplace and glazed double doors leading out to the garden. The arch to the right of the hallway leads to the main drawing- room where a bay window gives distant views of the horizon. It has a marble period fireplace.

An L-shaped utility area could become a study - it already has shelves and a large window. The guest toilet is in an enclosed area off the hallway, which includes storage space.

Through the second ground floor arch there is a kitchen/breakfastroom, newly fitted just a year ago, and a front sittingroom/study. The Dalkey Design-made kitchen/breakfastroom has a rustic-style range of floor and wall fittings in oak with integrated washing machine, dishwasher, oven and fridge. Ornate tiles in the wall behind the cooker come from Egypt. The kitchen dining area is in a deep, box bay window overlooking the garden.

The main bedroom has a large window over the garden and a door to a balcony with views of Bray Head and the bay. There are built-in wardrobes and an original cast-iron fireplace.

The second guest bedroom is at the other end of the landing and is similar but without the balcony. It has views of Killiney Hill. There is both a shower room and bathroom on this floor. The shower room was once a bedroom and has French doors to a balcony, marble floor tiling, bidet, wash-hand basin, toilet, large shower and cast-iron fireplace.

The pink-tiled bathroom has a free-standing bath as well as wash-hand basin and toilet. A third bedroom has a sloped ceiling and two windows with deep sills. A hotpress and built-in wardrobe fill a separate, enclosed area and a dressingroom, large enough to make a fourth bedroom, has a timber floor and French window onto the balcony. It has a corner, cast-iron fireplace and original cornice work.

The garden is on three levels with pathways, beds of plants and shrubs and mature trees. There is a garden-storage shed to the side of the house and Barna shed in the garden. A double garage is separate from the house.
