Wicklow/€490,000-plus: The final six homes at the Avoca Wood development on the edge of Avoca, Co Wicklow, are being released this week through joint selling agents Hooke & MacDonald and Remax of Wicklow town with prices starting at €490,000.

Avoca Wood, a scheme of 28 large four, five and six-bedroom detached homes, is situated on a sloping site overlooking the Vale of Avoca.

The village of Avoca, made famous by the Ballykissangel TV series, is nearby with its selection of pubs, schools and various sporting clubs.

Designed by architects Lennon O'Keefe Doyle of Wexford, Avoca Wood has six house styles. Each home is set on large grounds with sizes ranging from 182-200 sq m (1,960-2,156 sq ft) and prices from €490,000 to €570,000.

Standard features include fitted kitchens, bay windows and en suites with the main bedrooms, French doors off dining areas, Velux roof windows, double glazing, a high degree of insulation, and electric showers.

Avoca Wood also includes a large amount of landscaped open space. Much has been made of a stream running through the site and there are woodland walk areas and landscaped parks.

This low density scheme, which has only two houses per acre, is being built by Cleary Doyle of Wexford whose previous developments include The Gallops in Naas and The Ramblings in Wexford.

With road access to Dublin improving all the time, such as the ongoing upgrades to the N11 and eventual completion of the M50, the homes at Avoca Wood should appeal to commuters as well as those seeking a good-sized rural hideaway.
