EVEN Ireland’s top business heads have found themselves struggling in the property market, and this week none other than Bill Cullen and partner Jackie Lavin have the difficult task of finding buyers for their apartment investment.

No less than 24 two-bed apartments in the grounds of their Muckross Park Hotel in Killarney, Co Kerry, are going on the market at the much reduced prices of €225,000 and €295,000.

According to the Apprentice duo, the apartments will be the only homes to have been built in the Killarney National Park, the largest state owned park in the country. And that’s not all. They come with a concierge and a butler no less, along with two five year memberships of a spa and fitness suite, discounted green fees at a choice of seven golf courses in the kingdom, horseriding and angling facilities and two car parking spaces each. Owners can also sign up for a range of hotel services, including housekeeping and cleaning, laundry and dry cleaning, cooking, and party management.

Mr Cullen expects the units to be of interest to retirees, or indeed to couples seeking a low maintenance bolt hole. What chance does Leitrim have after this?
