Rathcoole, on the periphery of Dublin, was once the first staging post on the journey west from Dublin. In far less distant times the completion of the N7 Naas Road allowed that journey time to be greatly shortened, and in the 21st century the nearby Luas stop at Saggart has also helped to lure Dublin buyers farther west as the village has expanded to become a commuter town that offers all the rural attractions along with good travel times to Dublin city.

Croftwell is a small development of 60 houses located just 150m from An Poitín Stil, a thatched pub and restaurant on the Naas Road that was built on the site of an inn dating from 1649. The arrival of the Avoca shopping emporium has consolidated Rathcoole as a destination in its own right.

Built by brothers Colin and Gareth Stanley of Milanville who completed nearby Aubrey Manor, 44 of the 60 units have now been sold with the first sold off plans in August 2016 and a second phase launching last March in which four-bed townhouses of 157sq m/1,700sq ft sold for prices from €395,000 to €420,000.

This is the third and final phase and brings 14 four-bed semi-detached houses to market. The yellow-brick-fronted three-storey properties have dormer windows on the second floor, with the accommodation set over the first and second floors with two bedrooms on each. All are doubles. The master is on the first floor and has a shower en suite. The two bedrooms on the second floor share the family bathroom.

The houses range in price from €430,000 to €450,000 and measure about 167sq m (1,800sq ft). Included in the price are all kitchen appliances, including washing machine and drier. The smart painted units are by QK Living, which also completed the wardrobes.

The journey time to Dublin’s Red Cow Inn is about an 18-minute drive.
