When the owners of 25 Monkstown Avenue bought the 1948-built house in 2001 they set about extending and renovating the property. They incorporated the original garage into their plans, and built above it, turning it into a fine size four-bedroom house.

The garage, just off the walnut-floored hall, is now a small den with tongue and groove paneling. They replaced the 1940s tiled fireplace in the bay-windowed sittingroom and painted the room a Georgian red.
