The owner of Silverdale House got her inspiration for the opulent bedroom from a visit to the Maison et Objets interiors show held every year in Paris.

The statement piece of the room is undoubtedly the ornate silver-leaf hand-carved French bed sourced in France by Arlene McIntyre of Ventura Design (087 2446464, www.ventura.ie). It cost around €25,000.

The shimmery walls were achieved with a textured handmade wallpaper in a snakeskin effect. It comes from Anya Larkin in New York: the stockists are Donghia in Chelsea Harbour, (0044 207 8233456). It costs around €325 per metre.

The dark grey lizard skin Louis XV bedside tables are one-off pieces from Louise Bradley (www.louisebradley.co.uk) in London and cost £2,995 (€3,772) each. The matching bedside lamps come from American company, Fine Art lamps (www.fineartlamps.com). Fultons in Belfast (0044 2838 314600) are stockists.
