Two and three-bedroom units, undoubtedly located in the choicest part of Blanchardstown's expansive Waterville scheme, go on sale this weekend through Leahy Property Consultants.

With prices starting at £147,000 (€186,650) for two-bed apartments and from £175,000 (€222,200) for stylish three-bed duplexes, there should be a flurry of interest.

Waterville Terrace, built by Newlyn Developments, was designed by architects Burke Kennedy Doyle in an unusual "zig-zag" V-shaped layout. The development is relatively low-rise, mostly three-storey, and with five-storey blocks on the points of the angles. Every apartment and duplex unit faces directly on to the landscaped park and lake which are central Waterville features.

The new development is reached by travelling through Blanchardstown Village and crossing the M50 flyover. Waterville Terrace is at the far end of the site, close to Blanchardstown Hospital grounds. Residents can drive through the grounds to reach the village. An earlier phase of Waterville, built by a separate developer, is screened off by stands of mature trees.

A total of 326 units will eventually be built at Waterville Terrace and 44 are on offer in this initial phase. Forty of these are in the three-storey block where the show-houses are situated, all with own doors and large balconies or ground floor terraces facing south. Fifteen first-floor apartments of 650 sq ft on sale cost from £150,000 (€190,460).

Like all the units in the three-storey blocks, these have their own front door and carefully thought-out accommodation. There is a good-sized sittingroom with a timber fireplace incorporating a gas coal-effect fire. A compact kitchen off this room has Shaker-style units. The flagged balcony off the sittingroom is large enough for a couple of sun loungers. There are fitted wardrobes in the double and single bedrooms.

There are 15 ground floor two-bedroom apartments of 830 sq ft, also priced from £150,000 (€190,460). The sittingrooms are especially large because they incorporate the balcony from the apartment upstairs. A good-sized kitchen is directly off this and the main bedroom is en suite. Outside, a small flagged terrace takes the place of a balcony.

Top of the range at Waterville Terrace are 1,170 sq ft three-bedroom duplex units from £175,000 (€222,200). Ten of these are for sale. Sittingrooms are unexpectedly spacious, with a wood-look fireplace and useful alcoves either side. An L-shaped balcony facing the park could fit a dining table and chairs.

Upstairs, the main bedroom has a bank of white-panelled wardrobes and a generously-sized en suite shower. Bedroom two is also a double room and the third room is a single.

In one of the five-storey blocks, and selling from plans, are four two-bedroom apartments of 990 sq ft costing from £147,000 (€186,650). The mature grounds are a major attraction of the Waterville scheme and several stands of old deciduous trees have been retained. A metal boundary fence to the rear of the apartment scheme is raised off the ground to allow wildlife to come and go.
