Architects who split their practices often find the process to be similar to a divorce: deciding who will get what projects; which library books and establishing custody of the "children", i.e. staff.

Yet for London-based Future Systems, run by Jan Kaplicky and Amanda Levete, the divorce came first. The couple set up their practice 20 years ago, and have a 13-year-old son. After the marriage broke up they continued working together, and both remarried last year. Now they are to go their separate ways professionally.

Levete is expected to establish an architectural practice under her own name, with around 40-50 staff while Czech-born Kaplicky will keep the Future Systems name. His jobs include the library in Prague which we reported on earlier this year while one of Levete's major jobs is for News International in the London Docklands.

But what we want to know is who is going to run the Future Systems bridge project in Dublin's Spencer Dock?
