The Kombi became the transport of choice for Californian surfers, 1960s hippies and thousands of families on holidays.

A total of 1.5 million were sold during its years in production, varying from campers to pick-ups to load-lugging vans. Production in Brazil, the last country to manufacture them, will end on Friday, December 20th.
