Your bike: BMW GS 1200 and a Monkey bike
Why these machines? I like the BMW because of its all round abilities and it's very comfortable. I think the Monkey bike is good for a laugh.
Why did you become a biker? I think you can have so much fun on two wheels that just isn't possible in a car and I'm in the car far too often for my own liking.
Did you take rider training before you started biking? No, my father bought me my first bike when I was about 12 years old, a Yamaha Chappie. He showed me what to do and the first thing I did was crash straight into a fence. Once I came to I never forgot how to use the brakes again! I have taken advanced rider training recently and I found it very beneficial. To my surprise I didn't already know everything!
What do you use your bike for? I enjoy touring and getting out for spins on Sundays. I get a great laugh passing lads out on their sports bikes through the twisties!
What does it cost to insure your bikes? €1,200.
Do you worry about safety? No, to be honest that never enters my head. I'm too busy enjoying myself.
Had any accidents? I used to race on the track and I had a few spills over the years, nothing too serious though and I haven't had any accidents on the road, thank God.
What motorcycle sports do you follow? I absolutely love pure road racing. Seven years ago it was my ambition to race on the roads, but you have to do so many short circuit races first in order to get your road racing licence. When I attended my first race meeting I picked up sponsorship from Tony Bannon in Capital Motorcycles. He was my sponsor throughout my racing career. Tony stopped me from taking part in any road races because he thought it was too dangerous.
Have you taken any biking trips abroad? Yes, I've been all over Europe. Every year a group of us bikers head off somewhere. This year we are going to take in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
Do you think bikers share a bond? I do, I'm not too sure why though. I think it's because we're all so happy to be out enjoying ourselves on our bikes.
What are your safety tips? Always keep an eye on your tyre pressure and what you wear is very important. I'd also recommend taking some advanced rider training, you'll be amazed at how much you can learn even if you've been biking for years.
What's your dream machine? It would have to be an RCV Honda Moto GP bike.
