Routes to avoid this week
DUBLIN: Fingal County Council closing northbound carriageway of M1 from airport roundabout just north of the Turnipan Interchange and slip road from N1 at the Coachman's Inn to the M1. It will be closed from 10 p.m. today until 6 a.m. tomorrow.
Temporary traffic lights and roadworks in Tallaght on Greenhills Road between Airton Road and Old Tallaght. Single lane restrictions and temporary traffic lights in place 24 hours a day, Monday to Saturday until October. Diversions are in place.
On completion, Greenhills Road will be extended to meet the junction of Tallaght Bypass: expect delays.
Roadworks on Nangor Road, 500 metres on Clondalkin side of Pollyhops Pub: delays from Lucan and Newcastle. Temporary traffic lights in operation. Work from 7 a.m to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. Diversions in place via Newcastle.
Cycle races in Phoenix Park, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays: June 10th, July 1st, July 15th, July 22nd and August 19th. The following roads: the Main Road (between Phoenix Junction and Mountjoy Cross), and Survey Road (between junction with Main Road and junction with Furze, Upper Glen and Knockmaroon roads). Traffic diverted or halted at the following points: Phoenix Junction, Mountjoy Junction and junction of Survey Road, Upper Glen Road, Furze Road and Knockmaroon Road.
CORK: restrictions on Sullivans Quay - traffic one lane, as Quay Wall is under repair. A section of the footpath along the riverside has been closed for the duration of the work.
The road connecting Forge Corner to Duggan's Crossroads closed until Friday, June 6th.
KILDARE: Doctor's Lane in Maynooth has access from the Dublin side for building work. Construction of the Kildare bypass on the N7 means no left turn from Kildare to Monasterevin at Cherryville Crossroads. Instead take next left, the Athy left at Monasterevin.
The road between Ballymore Eustace and Brannockstown closed at Ardinore, traffic to divert.
LIMERICK: roadworks on Dooradoyle Road between the two roundabouts at the Crescent Shopping Centre, each day, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. In mid-June, single lane traffic, and work will be between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Rosbrien Road closed for roadworks. Alternative route via the R509, Childers Road and the N20. Local traffic will be accommodated.
OFFALY: National Country Fair takes place from next Saturday to Sunday, June 1st, at Birr Castle Demesne. Events include angling, sporting clays, international gundogs trials, hunt chase and much more. About 25,000 people are expected.
GALWAY: weeks four and five of a major re-signalling project on the Galway-Dublin rail route under way until June 8th. The project involves replacement of the current mechanical signalling system by a state-of-the-art system on the Ballinasloe to Galway section of the track. There will be some disruption to the Galway-Dublin route until June 8th.
CARLOW: roadworks until Sept 2003 at junction of the N9/Hanover Junction, Barrack Street/ Kennedy Avenue. Roadworks also at Paupish Lane and Angler's Walk junction and alongside New Oak Estate to Staplestown Road. There may be delays for local traffic.
