A windshielding system costing £500,000 which will significantly reduce the occasional traffic restrictions caused by high winds is now being installed on the West Link toll bridge over the Liffey by National Toll Roads. Two extra toll lanes are also being provided enabling 700 additional vehicles an hour to pass through. During peak rush hour periods, an average of 4,200 vehicles an hour are handled by the toll booths.

Skoda's 62 headquarters staff in Britain are getting clothes designed by Paul Costelloe. He has a commission for three-piece suits for men and dresses and jackets for women. He is also designing necklaces and earrings for women, depicting Skoda's winged arrow logo.

Rover Ireland has announced that air conditioning is now standard on the 400 saloon range with the exception of the entry-level 416 and 420D models. Rover's managing director, David Harpur, says the positive reaction from 600 drivers led to the decision to extend it to the 400 range. Prices for the air conditioned 400s start at £15,500.
