A squeeze for Louise

THE SOCIAL NETWORK:On Tuesday evening Brian O'Driscoll tweeted that he was "in no humour to cook for one with my better half out" and was going to have a little something from Nando's. His wife, Amy Huberman, was at Louise Kennedy's autumn-winter 2012 fashion show, at 56 Merrion Square.

Huberman stood throughout the show, along with Lorraine Keane and Lisa Duffy, who works for Kennedy at Brown Thomas and is married to Keith Duffy.

It was unusual to have so many standing at a show like this. A larger-than-expected turnout made for a bit of a squeeze, and the result was a fashion show where some guests sat on the ground-level and others squashed on to the Georgian staircase.

This was in stark contrast to Kennedy’s two fashion shows earlier in the day. One, at Kennedy’s Merrion Square headquarters, was attended by fashion media and clients including Carmel Naughton; the other was an event for readers of The Irish Times at the Merrion Hotel, where spectators sat on the plush chairs in the hotel’s drawing rooms.

There were quite a few men at Tuesday evening’s fashion show. Keith Jordan travelled up from Wexford. He is busy preparing for Wexford Chamber of Commerce fashion showcase at Johnstown Castle, on September 16th, which he is styling. The show will feature 14 boutiques from around the county and designs by Synan O’Mahony and hats by Michael Leong.

The managers of the Trocadero and Bite – Robert Doggett and Ronan Ryan respectively – were there. Valerie Morris was accompanied by her son-in-law, Trevor Rigley.
