Are uke a plucking star in the making?

It’s time to get-a-pluckin’ as the 3rd International Ukulele Festival hits Dún Laoghaire next weekend. The fun includes a free eight-hour ukulele hooley concert in the People’s Park next Sunday, August 19th, featuring players from around the world, including US-Dutch duo The Uke Box (pictured).

On Saturday, there'll be a roving double-decker Uke Bus busking at various spots around the town. There will also be workshops and lessons, and a chance for would-be uke stars to have a go at an open mic event at The Pavilion Quarter at 8pm on Saturday night, followed by a fireworks display.
