Summer Reading

I am a voracious reader, I suppose. I read a lot of newspapers online to begin with. I’ve always been into news, but the content online is amazing.

I'm presently dividing my time between two books. John Updike's My Father's Tears and Other Stories, is wonderful, poignant, and the writing is pure mastery. The second book I'm trawling through is fascinating in a different way. I have an abiding interest in science and Seeing Further, the Story of Science and the Royal Society, edited by Bill Bryson, contains some extraordinary writing by a stellar cast.

My reading wish list for the next while? Well, I recently started a postgrad, so there is a mountain of reading waiting. But I will keep the parallel stream going. Reading is the ultimate consolation. My wife has just started Colm McCann's Let the Great World Spin. I think I'll borrow it when she's done.
