Our wedding story: Two ceremonies in different countries

William, an economist with HM Treasury from Bridgend, Co. Donegal, met South Korean Borham, a motion graphics designer with Sony Pictures Entertainment, through mutual friends in London in 2013.

On the second anniversary of their first date, William proposed in Florence and as they wanted to celebrate with loved ones from both countries, the couple planned two weddings.

The first took place in Seoul on April 24th, 2016 and the second, in Harvey's Point, Donegal on August 15th.

Andrew Cadden and his wife Yaesel, the couple who introduced the bride and groom, were best man and maid of honour. Borham’s sister Ahram, two Italian friends Giada and Martina, and William’s sister Sarah were the bridesmaids. William’s brother Jonathan and friends Graham Burton and Saravanan Nagappan were the groomsmen.

The bride’s mother Eun-hee walked Borham up the aisle and the ceremony – during which Les Magee played the harp – was held on the jetty by Lough Eske by registrar Florence Blackburn.

After dinner, everyone took to the dancefloor to learn Irish dancing led by the Big Jigs band.

Wedding favours, handmade by Borham’s friend in Seoul, were dolls dressed in traditional Korean costumes.
