Simon Carswell

Simon Carswell has been appointed to the position of News Editor. He has served as Public Affairs Editor since 2018 and previously worked as Washington Correspondent and Finance Correspondent. Before joining The Irish Times, Simon was a reporter and later News Editor at the Sunday Business Post. Originally from Limerick, he has a degree in history from Trinity College Dublin and a Master’s in Journalism from Dublin Institute of Technology.

Jennifer O'Connell

Jennifer O’Connell has been appointed Opinion Editor. She has been a feature writer and reporter with The Irish Times since 2016, with a weekly column in the Opinion section. Before that, Jennifer was the founding editor of TheJournal.ie and served as Features Editor and Assistant Editor at the Sunday Business Post. She is from Waterford and has a degree in European Studies from Trinity College Dublin and a Master’s in Journalism from Dublin City University.

Mary Minihan
Mary Minihan

Mary Minihan has been appointed Features Editor. Mary has been in the role on secondment since last May, having previously worked as Assistant News Editor and as Political Reporter in Leinster House. Before joining The Irish Times, she was Political Correspondent at Newstalk. Mary is from Derry and has a degree from Oxford University and a Master’s in Journalism from Dublin City University.
