A Cavan teenager who forced a four-year-old girl to give him oral sex has been jailed for 10 years by Mr Justice Carney at the Central Criminal Court.
Gavin Lawton (19), John Paul Avenue, Cavan, pleaded guilty to oral rape of the child, on dates unknown between September 1st, 1994, and January 31st, 1997.
Mr Justice Carney suspended the final 18 months of the sentence because Lawton pleaded guilty at the earliest possible opportunity and did not occupy a trial date.
He added that if the reason for the suspension of portion of the sentence was not given by the media he would regard it as a misreporting of the case.
