Fourteen prisoners died in a fire when an escape bid from a police station in Dubai went wrong.
An official in the Gulf Emirate said one man set fire to bedding in a cell to cover his escape attempt but it got out of control killing 14 men, all serving drugs offences, and injuring 15 others.
Three policemen were among the injured in the blaze.
Dubai is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates.
