142 jobs lost at Tipperary firm

The closure of a Co Tipperary-based electrical contractors with a workforce of 142 was announced this evening.

The closure of a Co Tipperary-based electrical contractors with a workforce of 142 was announced this evening.

Jer Ryan Electrical Contractors Ltd is based in Clonmel but has offices in Dublin and Cork.

“Despite strenuous efforts to secure the survival of the company” it had been left with “no option but to cease trading”, directors of the engineering firm said in a statement.

The statement said that “adverse trading conditions” particularly in construction, had resulted in the “unwelcome decision”. The company has operated for 16 years and at its peak had a workforce of 350.
