Lagos - A Shell crude oil pipeline has exploded in south-eastern Nigeria, killing 15 people and injuring several others, state television reported.
A Shell spokesman said there were indications the Asa-Egbema trunk pipeline carrying crude from Shell's onshore fields in the southeast, had been tampered with. He said crude oil exports by Shell, Nigeria's largest producer, had not been affected.
