A 12-year-old girl, who slipped and fell in a wet passageway at a swimming pool complex, has been awarded £20,000 damages in the Circuit Civil Court.

Mr Paul Burns, counsel for Jennifer Culligan, of Moreen Close, Sandyford, Co Dublin, told Circuit Court President Mr Justice Smyth she hurt her knee and broke two front teeth in the fall. He said Jennifer was seven at the time and the defendant, Dundrum Family Recreation Centre, Meadow bank, Dundrum, Dublin, had made a settlement offer of £20,000, which he was recommending to the court.

Mr Burns said Jennifer had suffered considerable pain and would need future dental treatment.

Mr Justice Smyth approved the settlement.
