Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal Noel Ahern has announced €2 million for 69 housing-management projects.

Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal Noel Ahern has announced €2 million for 69 housing-management projects.

The funding covers 48 local authorities and a number of social housing bodies under the grants scheme for housing-management initiatives.

This scheme was established in 1995 to fund selected pilot projects to improve local authority housing-management performance. It aims to provide assistance for practical projects outside of the normal "day-to- day" pattern of housing authority activities.

According to Mr Ahern, the establishment of the scheme came after changes to social housing policy, including a new emphasis on housing management.
