A plane crash in dense Amazon jungle killed all 33 people aboard, Brazil's national radio is reporting.

The twin-engine plane operated by Rico Linhas Aereas crashed nine miles from Manaus shortly after 12.30 a.m. Irish time in northwest Amazonas state.

Rescue crews found no survivors in their search along the banks of the Rio Negro River, a CBN reporter at Manaus airport said after he and waiting families were handed a list of the victims.

Small fragments of the aircraft were recovered and no bodies, indicating the plane had likely exploded, a company spokesman said.

The Brasilia Embraer 120 plane was carrying 30 passengers and three flight crew to Manaus from Sao Paulo de Olivenca in western Amazonas state.

The plane lost contact with air traffic controllers as it approached Manaus for landing in clear skies.

Navy and air rescue crews located the wreckage early today but had to call off their mission because of darkness and fog made.
