Local residents are objecting to a £3 million development plan for the Gaelic grounds in Limerick city.

People living in the vicinity of the Ennis Road grounds have formed a committee, as they say they are concerned about their privacy. They also have concerns about parking, crowd control, the design of the structure, proposed boundary fences, new entries and exits and health and safety factors.

Mr Dan Hickey, chairman of the Gaelic Grounds Development Committee, said the objective was to bring the grounds up to the safety standards set by the Government and to provide more comfort for patrons.

The development committee has denied that the GAA has plans to hold concerts at the venue.
