Sanaa - Yemeni authorities began negotiating yesterday with tribesmen who kidnapped four Belgian tourists and their Yemeni driver.

A Yemeni official said the four Belgians, two men and two women, had called their travel agency by telephone from captivity. "They confirmed that they were in good health."

The four were among a group of seven Belgians travelling in two utility vehicles which were ambushed on Thursday outside the capital Sanaa.
