High winds and a major fault on a high-voltage power line resulted in up to 9,000 homes being left without electricity from Tuesday night to lunchtime yesterday. The north Dublin area was worst affected but stormy conditions also cut supplies to 1,000 homes in isolated pockets of Munster and other parts of Leinster.
