Aer Lingus cabin crews are to take industrial action from June 4th in protest against the company's attempt to replace one or more crew members per flight with personnel from Delta Airlines.

Since the beginning of the month, Delta has been operating a joint arrangement with Aer Lingus following its purchase of 40 seats on Aer Lingus's most prestigious routes - Dublin New York and Shannon New York.

A SIPTU spokesman said: "Following the sacrifices made in the Cahill plan, cabin crews will not tolerate the handing over of their jobs as part of the deal."
