Luanda - Presidents Jose Eduardo dos Santos of Angola, Laurent Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Sam Nujoma of Namibia and Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe began a summit on regional security yesterday.
Angola, Namibia and Zimbabwe, along with Chad, are providing support to Mr Kabila in his fight against a Tutsi-led rebellion backed in turn by Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. On Wednesday Mr Kabila received an offer from the Kenyan President, Mr Daniel arap Moi, to hold peace talks in Nairobi between Kinshasa and the DRC rebels.
Regional stability also depends on resolving the conflict in Angola, which late last year plunged into all-out civil war
