London - Legal proceedings began yesterday against two major UK airlines over alleged cases of air travel-related deep vein thrombosis.

The cases were brought against British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, but other carriers could face litigation in a possible group case involving 200 passengers. "We hope that the aviation industry will now answer the many questions our clients have asked," said Ms Gerda Goldinger, spokeswoman for a Hertfordshire-based solicitors.
