Two new airlines will start offering new European routes from Dublin airport next year, according to media reports this morning.

It is expected that airport's operator, Aer Rianta, will announce later today that German low fares carrier Hapag Lloyd and KLM subsidiary Transavia will both start offering new routes.

Hapag Lloyd is understood to be offering routes to Germany, landing at Stuttgart and Hamburg while Transavia will operate services to Rotterdam.

Both airlines are thought to be planning to compete for the low fares market, bringing likely competition for Ryanair.
