Contrary to most rugby pundits the weekend’s not all-black in fact Met Éireann forecast it will stay generally dry and calm with cloudy skies. Top temperatures are expected to reach between 8 and 11 degrees.
High pressure looks set to dominate the weather over the country for the next few days. Nights will be chilly, but misty with widespread fog or low cloud and this will be slow to clear during the day.
A very weak front may bring some patchy drizzle mainly to northern and eastern areas on Sunday into Monday, but in general any rainfall will be little or none at all. Winds will remain generally calm or light.
AA Roadwatch are recommending motorists drive with extra caution in the event of fog, using their fog lights where necessary. It also warned motorists to remember to turn-off these lights when the fog lifts.
AA Roadwatch also points out that there are a number of events likely to cause traffic delays over the weekend.
Ireland take on New Zealand in rugby on Saturday at Lansdowne Road, the match starts at 2 p.m. A number of parking and traffic restrictions will be in place from 8 a.m.
The annual motor show also takes place on Saturday at Dublin’s RDS. The event runs all day and is likely to cause traffic congestion in the area.
The other big event of the weekend is the official opening of Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone.
The most eagerly awaited film for a generation, the film is expected to become the most popular children's picture of all time.
Critics have been unanimous in their praise of the film, based on the book by J.K. Rowling. Her four books about Harry and his adventures at Hogwarts School of Wizardry are popular with children and adults alike, and have sold 100 million copies in 46 languages.
