An open day reflecting on nearly 90 years of activity by the Irish Bank Officials Association will be held next Saturday to mark the union's departure from its headquarters on St Stephen's Green in Dublin.
The event, which will be open to the public, will include a photographic exhibition incorporating a news record of some of the major disputes in Irish banking over the past nine decades.
The union, which was founded in 1917, recently sold its properties on St Stephen's Green for €30 million.
The buildings sold include the union's headquarters at 92-93 St Stephen's Green, where the IBOA has been based since 1921, as well as the adjacent office rented by the Department of Justice.
The union, which represents more than 20,000 workers in banking and finance, will move next month to a new office on Upper Stephen Street, Dublin 8, which it bought for €14 million.
IBOA general secretary Larry Broderick said the open day would provide an opportunity for current and former members of the union to "meet old friends and relive past battles".
Mr Broderick said that in reviewing the union's files, it was surprising to note that the main issues on the agenda in previous decades were "pay, sales, stress and bullying by management".
"The world may have been turned upside down in the years since 1917, but the issues confronting staff in 2006 are the very same as they were back then."
