London - Controversy at the prospect of child killer, Mary Bell, profiting financially from a new book about her life has prompted the Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw, to consider including such payments in a strengthened version of the Proceeds of Crime Act. In the wake of reports that Bell has been paid more than £50,000 for lengthy interviews with the book's author, the Prime Minister, Mr Blair, has asked Mr Straw to confirm whether or not she will benefit financially from her collaboration. It is 30 years since Bell, now 41, was convicted of the manslaughter of two small boys, aged four and three, in Newcastle upon Tyne.
